![]() TLDR: it helps you stay on a task for a long period of time. I just wish people would stop spreading misinformation or saying blanket statements like, “It’s mental steroids!”, because it’s not. Look, I’m not saying it should be allowed, or that its ok for people to take Adderall during professional competition, because it’s definitely not. Honestly, I feel like it makes me dumber, but I take it because it helps me grind out the work I need to do. In addition, the negative side effects get more severe as the drug starts to wear off, which makes the whole thing worse. It makes me jittery in a way where my technical execution becomes worse. Also, I feel like it makes me worse at coming up with creative solutions to problems. On the bottle it says, "This drug may impair your ability to drive or operate machinery". I would even argue that it can impair my judgment. I find that it makes me incredibly tunnel visioned and prevents me from seeing the whole picture. In fact, I would argue that it makes me a WORSE player. So, while Adderall does help me with long grind sessions and playing for many hours on end, it by no means makes me a better player. Adderall is prescribed to people with ADD because it helps stay on one task without getting bored and immediately switching to something else. So, I want to give my 2 cents on the matter because I feel like a lot of people just say things without actually knowing how it feels or what it does. I have an Adderall prescription for ADD and I've played competitive games my entire life. Lucky us to run into them as our first matchup. I think we were top 18-24 that event and Shook's team was top 12, but I'm sure my numbers are slightly off since this was over a decade ago.Įdit: Shook's team had a lifetime performance that event and took 4th. I recall my first pro series against Shook One's team and we got man handled from a teamwork perspective. There were a few major upsets, but FB and Carbon were the two teams to beat for the l o n g e s t time. ![]() The top two teams were several steps above the top 3-4 teams, 3-4 were far better than 5-8, etc (note that this is in general, ofc there were times where these teams would perform better/worse at certain tournaments). ![]() The talent gap was just silly (and it still seems to be that way). There were over 500 players in the open FFA (I took 12th and was knocked out by Lil Poison lol). My first tournament was at MLG Chicago 2005. Especially if you were still relatively young and didn't need much money. The tournaments themselves were great, though. You'd have to be a top three contender to be a true professional, and even 3rd place wouldn't be that much money when split four ways. Money was pouring into the scene, but not really to the players.
